CHAOS or COMMON SENSE

Volume 1 Immigration Enforcement

How does a population of over 340 million people view our government and
future so differently? I do not have any statistical surveys, but do I really
need one?
Chaos is defined as complete disorder, bedlam, havoc, and confusion.
Common sense on the other hand, is defined as the ability to perceive and
judge situations based upon widely accepted beliefs and experiences that
are generally shared among people.
In today’s world, our politicians often say whatever they want as if it is one
hundred percent fact, they make these statements with little or no statistical
information to support their statement. Is anyone else tired of being treated
by our politicians as if we are the dumbest individuals on planet earth? If
you are a right-leaning individual, you can say with certainty that it is
daylight, if you are left-leaning, you can say with certainty that it is nighttime.
Which one is correct? Probably neither, as it is most likely twilight or dusk,
but either side will try to bend any facts, if there are any, to their way of
thinking, and if there are no facts, they simply create some to support their
position.
CHAOS
Chaos is rampant in Minneapolis today. You only need to turn your
television on to one of the talking head networks or read articles from the
many news agencies to see the chaos that is occurring daily in
Minneapolis. We have seen two individuals killed while participating in this
out of control environment. Who should we hold accountable for this
disaster? EVERYONE involved in this mess! The federal government, the
state government, and the local government.
The federal agencies are there to enforce warrants that have been issued
for illegal aliens who we are told are the worst of the worst. They very well
may be, as we know for a fact that during the last administration, hundreds
of thousands and possibly millions of gang members, drug traffickers, child
molesters and murders were allowed to walk across our borders
completely unvetted. If the federal government were to provide citizens, the
warrant information that has brought them to this location, it might turn down
the flames somewhat.
Surely, the most radical people on the left or right do not want individuals
who have committed murder, rape, child molestation, or are part of a violent
gang to reside in their community. If they do, then they should leave as
well. Equally, the Federal government must be transparent and justify why
they are there and why their tactics are necessary. As I indicated earlier, no
one has completely clean hands in this situation.
As stated earlier, everyone has some responsibility for the disaster we are
seeing and reading about each day in Minneapolis. Where is local law
enforcement? In my opinion, if the state and local law enforcement had
been directed to support the federal agencies, we would still have two
citizens alive rather than dead. The federal agencies active in this matter
are responsible for detaining and deporting individuals who have been issued
warrants for removal, or who are suspected of illegal activities and need to
be detained. They are not supposed to have to deal with unruly crowds
who are trying to impede their lawful duties. The Federal Agencies and
their officers are directly responsible for the two deaths; our judicial system
will determine their level of responsibility. The Governor of Minnesota and
the Mayor of Minneapolis must be held accountable as well. They
continually fanned the flames and did nothing to support the federal
agencies in doing their job.
COMMON SENSE
Common sense does not seem to be anywhere in Minneapolis. Common
sense would say the local law enforcement agencies should be supporting
the federal governments enforcement of judicial issued detainment and
deportation orders. That seems somewhat simple. Local law enforcement
should be controlling demonstrations to ensure they are peaceful and not
operating like an out of control mob. Allowing their demonstrations to storm
hotels, obstruct traffic, put their hands on federal officers, and not act in an
orderly manner puts United States citizens at risk and very likely has
contributed to two deaths.
In this one opinion, immigration has been out of control for many decades.
Common sense would say that if we referred to the immigrants as illegal
immigrants, that logically must mean they have broken the law to enter the
United States. Too often, politicians get on their soapbox and shout we are
a nation of laws, how interesting if they really believe that, then shouldn’t the
immediate conclusion be that an illegal immigrant has broken a law and
must be held accountable and be dealt his/her sentence after due process?
I find it totally laughable that supporters of sanctuary environments want to
refer to the illegal immigrants as unauthorized migrants, not illegal
immigrants. The immigrants being sought are criminals who entered our
country illegally, they are not unauthorized. Additionally, even those who
crossed the border without a criminal record do not have clean hands.
They entered illegally and have broken the law.
The United States has legal processes to enter our country, and in 2024
818,500 immigrants became United States Citizens through our
naturalization process.
Trying to accumulate meaningful data to support factual statements on
immigration is very difficult. It is almost impossible to find data for matching
time periods, possibly because no one in government wants any analysis to
be completed. But there are some facts available. According to the U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, the level of ICE removals has increased
dramatically. In 2021, 85,100 immigrants were deported by ICE and by
2025, that number had increased to 622,000, a 731 percent increase. There
should be no surprise here as one of Donald Trump’s campaign goals and
promises to the United States citizens was to get control of the countries, out
of control, illegal immigration. Looking at the illegal entry side, in
September 2025, illegal entry was down to 8,400 individuals compared to
over 250,000 in December 2023 under the Biden administration. A
decrease of 2,900 percent. The President is fulfilling a campaign promise to
drastically reduce the size of the illegal population entering and remaining
the United States.
The question is, can it be done differently? Of course, our laws allow
for changes to be made in an orderly manner. But it cannot be done when
we allow members of our population to demonstrate as a mob, creating
chaos, obstructing justice, and creating an environment where the death of our
citizens is the outcome.
I believe common sense says that if you do not like what is happening, then
work through our democratic process. Bombard your congressional
representatives with your opinions on how to change our laws. If you are
unsatisfied, then vote those representing, you out of office. Stop the chaos
and mob activity that is resulting in the loss of life, and then taking no
responsibility for the result.
I am not a lawyer, but my recall from civics class and other experiences
over my career reminds me that federal law overrides state law on
immigration. Under the United States Constitution’s Supremacy Clause,
the federal government holds exclusive power to regulate immigration and
define the status of noncitizens. State laws that conflict with, attempt to
regulate, or pose an obstacle to federal immigration policy are preempted
and invalid.
However, some states declare themselves to be sanctuary domains and
they will not cooperate with the federal authorities in carrying out the
federal laws. Common sense would expect the leaders in Minneapolis to
send their police to assist the federal officers in crowd or mob control while
officers attempt to make their arrest. That did not happen, and individuals
who were United States citizens were killed while the rights of non-citizens
were being “protected” by the leaders of Minnesota and Minneapolis.
Thank heavens that the Governor of Minnesota was not successful in being
a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States.
In my opinion, common sense wins this argument. Illegal immigrants are
not unauthorized migrants; they are not citizens. They have entered our
country illegally and broken the current laws. They have not entered
through our naturalization process, and they do not have legal standing.
Especially those who have a record of murder, rape, gang affiliation, or
breaking any other laws. Everyone should be supporting their removal.
